HOME AND AWAY
Your dress and jacket for town or country to plan as a pair, but each with a life of its own
ANYWHERE and everywhere you can wear our dress and jacket. As practical as it is fashionwise, it has been designed specially for "W.I." readers by Elterman of "Vilene" studios, who shows us how "Vilene" gives a couture touch to the outfit, for it is used to interline the collar of the jaunty little jacket, to give permanent shape to the unusual tucks on the bodice of the dress, and an extra crispness to the kick pleat at the back of the skirt.

THESE ARE ‘WOMAN’S ILLUSTRATED’ HOME TESTED PATTERNS
Though they can be worn separately, the two have been planned as a team for the dress is piped on the attractive shoulder tabs with the jacket colour.
We chose two tones-beige and spiced ginger-but there is no limit to your fabric and colour choice-perhaps you will decide on linen for a warmer weather pair. SARAH REDWOOD

The average price of a new home then was $12750 about 2.77 times the yearly average wage of $4600. Which was about 2.14 times the price of a new car $2150. Today?
