feet on show
Before you step bare footed on the beach, feet and legs will need special attention.
I'm going for a seaside holiday next month. I love to go bare footed, but I'm wondering how I'm going to make out with hairy legs which show mauve bruises and feet which could be much improved in shape. My big toes are developing a bulge which doesn't look at all pretty.
Make a habit of dehairing your legs once a week with a razor. Cake make-up will disguise bruise marks and should survive sea bathing, but don't rub your legs dry or you'll have to camouflage the marks again. Alternatively you could use a new lotion that disguises blemishes.
Counter big toe bulges with this exercise at bedtime. Move each foot in turn about three feet across the floor by arching the row of joints immediately before the toes. And see a chiropodist immediately.

Wrinkle worries
Summer sunlight shows up my wrinkles. As advised, I pat the fine lines lightly with a skin food. While it keeps these at bay, it doesn't seem to do any good to the deeper kind.
There are two kinds of facial wrinkle. Besides using skin food on the lighter ones, try to avoid screwing up your eyes against the strong light, and frowning. The deeper folds come naturally with age. Skilled massage to firm the face muscles is the only answer with muscle-toning exercises.

Sun-dried hair
My hair becomes terribly dry in the sun every summer and looks so unattractive. What can I do to prevent it getting that dried-up "straw" look?
Hair conditioning creams are ideal for this. Use one after your shampoo and before sunbathing. Squeeze a quarter of an inch from the tube into one palm, rub hands together and smooth them rapidly over hair. Or rub brush bristles over your palm and brush the cream into the hair.

Happy tanning
How can l tell what suntan preparation to use? There are so many different kinds in the shops that will prevent sunburn but bring on a tan.
Choose your aid to tanning according to your skin type. Greasy skins are usually happiest with an oil; medium types with a jelly or lotion; dry skins need frequent doses of cream. Sunbathe for only ten minutes the first day and gradually increase the time by a few minutes daily as your skin browns and gets used to being exposed to the sun.
