CRISS CROSS EMBROIDERY
SIMPLE motifs, worked mainly in cross stitch from our pictures here, will add colour and gaiety to plain fabrics and knitteds. No transfer is needed for this embroidery, just count the stitches from the motifs. They can be used collectively, or repeated singly as required, and of course they can be adapted to any size you wish. Work one cross stitch over one knitted stitch or over two or three threads of linen. Work over the same number of threads in each direction and make sure the top thread lies in the same direction throughout. Straight stitch is used for little flowers and leaves. Back stitch is used for central flowers and straight lines in the hearts and flowers border.
