Woman's Own April 4 1959 Page 27

The Taming of Laura
Step out in step with fashion says ANNE LAMBTON
THIS IS THE LOOK
A yard of silk, an untrimmed Breton, a dash of courage and the latest look in hats is yours for a few shillings
Shirts are back, worn open at he neck, collar outside suit
The right suit this year is simple, classic, basically so timeless you could have bought it years ago. It's the way our model wears it that gives it unmistakably the look of 1959. Note the length, two inches below the knee. Note that broad, black leather belt cinching skirt and shirt firmly into the waistline
Accessories are always vital and, as ever, the simpler the better. Your bag, this year, should have a new curved shape, choose black leather for an exciting contrast to a vivid suit: it looks twice as good as anything else. For shock treatment, pick white high-heeled court shoes, they'll give a lift to any outfit. And shortie gloves, preferably white and always scrupulously clean, complete this portrait of our Miss 1959. Details and stockists on page 59
