THE BEST HOMES HAVE REAL CARPET!
Carpeting your home means more than merely covering the floors. Carpets should not only enhance the beauty of your home but they should STAY beautiful and give you lasting satisfaction. That's why carpets need a lot of “floor thought” before you finally decide on what to buy.
What Kind?
A REAL woven carpet, a British Axminster or Wilton is your ideal choice for the longest possible life and attractiveness. 'Ah', you might say, 'But aren't woven carpets dearer?' The answer is 'No' ; not when you consider your investment in good looks and wearing qualities (it's no secret that cheaper, synthetic carpets flatten and start to look 'tired' very quickly). Woven carpets, with an all-wool pile, last longer and look lovelier. And it is important to remember that only traditional weaving methods can produce the delicate patterns, exciting colours and beautiful floral designs that are admired so much.
What Type?
Real carpets are woven in a wide variety of sizes and widths, in squares, broadloom or in body carpet by the yard. Fitted carpets, made from body carpet or seamless broadloom, are the up and coming fashion today because of the wall to wall warmth and look of luxury they bring. And of course when you fit wall to wall carpet there is no more dreary surround polishing!
Squares, of course, are still very popular and the choice of traditional and contemporary designs is almost unlimited. Squares are economical too, because you need so much less carpet per room. Their other advantages are that they can be turned to equalise wear, and of course, be transferred easily from room to room when the urge to have a change comes over you.
Your Guide to Value
There is one sure way of knowing that the price of a carpet is matched to its quality. Look for the Lion and Shuttle symbol of the Federation of British Carpet Manufacturers on the label. This tells you that it is a real woven carpet, the price of which corresponds to the amount and type of yam used.
